What a show stopper! This is a beautifully detailed Myott Son & Co hand-painted and stamped tea cup and saucer made in Hanley England sometime in the 1930's. The design manages to somehow have an influence of asian and greek inspiration all at the same time. Diversity... even celebrated in our home goods, we love it! Cup measures approx. 2" tall and the saucer is 6" in diameter.
What makes this set super special is the crazing glaze which is common of their time-period and crackled, making the pieces even more fragile. Yet somehow they have still managed to persevere unbroken and together. I can't imagine the things these tiny pieces have witnessed in their lifetime, but their history was obviously cradled in great care... because here they are nearly a century later and I find that absolutely inspiring.
