This handsome guy is part of my obsession with the connection and perseverance of two piece antique items. That they have beautifully survived decades together, unbroken, absolutely inspires me. This piece was created by The Jim Beam Distilleries and produced by the Genuine Regal China Company as the second part of a series in 1979. It measures approximately 10” tall x 5.5”wide x 3” deep.
I have taken what some see as a rather macabre twist on these creatures by repurposing them as planters. Just place fresh or silk flowers in it and display the head separately… I think it’s a fun, artistic way to keep this category of history relevant. Place on any shelf or in your bar area, and enjoy for another forty years. OR… of course you can simply refill with your favorite spirits as the head does screw off and on.
